Skills

Today's students have so much more of a technological advance than I did when I was in school, which has the potential to be an incredible learning tool when included in the classroom. When I ask students to grab out their phones for an assignment or activity, no one hesitates and at first they were even excited to bring their phones out in class. For some students, it is easier for them to use their calculator on their phone or if they have a question about the material, I tell them to utilize all resources, even the Internet, which they can explore directly from their fingertips. In my classroom, students have been exposed to:

*TI-89 Calculators
*Geogebra
*Math applets
*QR Codes
*Poll Everywhere

For my own teaching knowledge, I have subscribed to or explored:

*NCTM Mathematics Teacher (member since April 2014)
*Illuminations

Read on for more about my educational journey below.

At the University of California, Irvine, I traveled through a five year journey that has shaped me into the person I am today. I started in the Henry Samueli School of Engineering where I studied Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering for two and a half years, which fascinated me, but it was not my passion. I had a desire to become a Mathematics major and pursue my credential after graduation, so I enrolled in a theoretical Math class. From this point, I spoke with the professor and discovered that UCI has a Cal Teach program, which has allowed me to work on my undergraduate degree in conjunction with my Secondary Single Subject Teaching Credential for Mathematics. For the last three years, I have been taking a variety of courses at UC Irvine. These range from my major in Mathematics, to my minor in Spanish Language, to School of Education courses for my credential, to Persian language and culture, to research with language and Mathematics.

As for my involvements within the university, I have worked collaboratively with professors and students alike through Greek Life programming and national conferences, philanthropic efforts, participated in various athletic programs and guided incoming freshman through their first exposure to the campus. If you would like to know more about my involvements, feel free to ask me! I have also listed links below to a few of their websites.
